The Education Foundation of the CCIM Institute has been granting scholarships to deserving students and real estate professionals since 1988. Our scholarship programs are designed to encourage and assist professionals pursuing the CCIM designation and to promote high educational standards. Our programs enable commendable professionals in the real estate industry to experience the CCIM Institute's education first hand.

CCIM Designation Scholarships
Overview
The Designation Scholarship was created to support qualified real estate professional in their efforts to achieve the CCIM designation. Recipients of this scholarship are CCIM members who exemplify the high caliber of professionals that comprise the CCIM Institute.
Designation scholarships are awarded in the following categories:
- Cultural diversity/ underserved minority scholarships (2 scholarships annually)
- Legacy: son/daughter of a CCIM (2 scholarships annually)
- Open distribution-available to above audiences as well as any CCIM candidate (2 scholarships annually)
Scholarship Value
Recipients will receive enrollment in the following CCIM designation courses: CI102; CI103; CI104; CCR Review (optional for designation, but required for scholarship). In addition, fees for the following designation requirements shall be paid as part of the scholarship: Portfolio of Qualifying Experience processing and Comprehensive Exam. This is valued at $4,190.
Recipients will be reimbursed up to $200/day for hotel, meals, parking, etc. Three courses, five days each = up to $3,000; Review course, two days = up to $400; Exam, one day = up to $200. Maximum possible reimbursement = $3,600. (Expense reports with original receipts required for reimbursement.)
Total scholarship value is up to $7,790.

Procedure
Applicants should send all applications and materials to the Education Foundation. Once accepted, recipients are responsible for registering for each class and making their own travel arrangements.
Eligibility
- Must have successfully completed CCIM C101 course between January 1, 2009 - August 15, 2010
- Must be a Candidate Member of the CCIM Institute
- Must be a member of a CCIM Chapter (if living in an area served by a chapter)
- Must be pursuing a career in commercial real estate
- Previous practical experience in the field (internship or job)
- Completed scholarship application and supporting materials.
Scholarship recipients will be responsible for reimbursing the Foundation for the full cost of a failed course; failing a course renders the scholarship null and void.
Recipients must complete their course of study within two years of the scholarship award and take the exam/complete resume requirements within two years of completing C104. Recipients must submit a proposed course schedule to the Education Foundation and keep the Foundation informed of course progress.
If a selected applicant successfully completes one of the CI courses between the application deadline and date of notification, he/she is eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of the course and receive the travel stipend.

Selection Criteria
The selection shall primarily be based on merit, including the following factors:
- Commitment to a commercial real estate career
- Involvement with CCIM chapter, other real estate/professional organizations, and civic/community groups
- Communication skills
- History of employment
- Two professional letters of recommendation, written specifically about this scholarship; one of these letters must be from a current CCIM
- Completed Instructor Questionnaire
A Scholarship Selection Committee, appointed by the Board of Directors of the Education Foundation, will make the final scholarship selections based on the above criteria. Interviews with applicants may be conducted via phone or in person.
Recipient Notification
The Education Foundation will notify all applicants of selection results by September 30.
Award Made
Award is ongoing. Travel reimbursement checks will be sent to recipients after submittal and approval of expense report and original receipts upon successful completion of each course, review, and the exam. The CCIM Institute is reimbursed directly for course, portfolio, and exam fees.
Chapter 101 Scholarships
Overview
The Chapter 101 Scholarship Program is designed to promote the CCIM designation on a broad basis and to increase the visibility of the chapters. Through the Chapter Scholarship, the Education Foundation awards $795 toward the cost of completing CI 101: Financial Analysis for Commercial Real Estate. The scholarship must be used within the calendar year of the award. See the distribution chart below for the number of scholarships that each Chapter receives.
For 2008, the Education Foundation will be maintaining the current level of scholarship allocations by chapter, with a minimum allocation of two scholarships.
Scholarship Value
$795 voucher towards enrollment to CCIM Institute's C101 course - Financial Analysis for Commercial Real Estate. Course 101 is a required course for those pursuing CCIM designation. Chapter scholarships are partial scholarships. While the CCIM Institute reduces the final cost for CI 101 Chapter Scholarship recipients, recipients are responsible for a $295 course fee at the point of registration.

Procedures
Chapters promote the scholarship at all Chapter events, local real estate programs, local universities and through your local NAR board. Post scholarship information and application on your Chapter web site and direct people to www.ccimef.org.
Chapter scholarships are partial scholarships. While the CCIM Institute reduces the final cost for CI 101 Chapter Scholarship recipients, ALL recipients are responsible for a $295 course fee at the point of registration - no exceptions! The Chapter may elect to cover this portion through direct reimbursement to the recipient upon receipt of the course confirmation. In your chapter's award notification, please notify (in writing) all recipients of their $295 course fee due at registration. A credit card (or check, if mailed) must be given at time of registration.
Scholarships apply to in-class instruction only for CI 101 (not applicable to challenge exams or on-line courses).
Recipients will be contacted by CCIM Institute's Chapter and Customer Services staff who will counsel and guide the recipient to the course offering of his/her choice. Final confirmation of all recipients will be directed to all chapters from the Education Foundation by November 14, 2008.
ALL CI 101 Chapter Scholarship registrations must be received by the Institute by March 31, 2009. As each CI 101 course has a limited number space available, this deadline will ensure our recipients will be able to secure a place in an upcoming CI 101 course offering.
Scholarship applications and required documentation should be directed to the Education Foundation by November 1, 2008.
Eligibility
The Chapter Scholarship Application may be used to evaluate scholarship applicants. If the Foundation receives any applications from applicants directly, the applications will be forwarded to the local Foundation Liaison/Chapter Scholarship Contact.

Final candidate information is due to the Education Foundation from chapters by November 1, 2010.
Each Chapter should direct the following information to the Education Foundation for review:
- Finalists' scholarship applications with required documentation.
- Scholarship Recipient Profile for each recipient.
Any chapter not submitting complete documentation will cause a delay in the notification process for its recipients. All materials should be directed to info@ccimef.org.

Recipient Notification
Chapters will receive final confirmation for all scholarship recipients by November 14, 2010. The Education Foundation forwards Scholarship Recipient List to CCIM Institute. Local Chapters forward final award letters to all recipients.
Use of Scholarship
The CCIM Institute's Chapter Services will contact each scholarship recipient regarding registration and counsel them regarding the CCIM designation program, beginning November 17, 2010. All 2010 scholarship recipients must be registered for their courses by March 31, 2011.
University Scholarships
Overview
The purpose of the University Scholarship Program is to encourage and assist students desiring a career in real estate and to promote high educational standards. This program enables commendable university students majoring in real estate to experience the CCIM Institute's education first hand. A list of approved schools participating in the program is below.
Scholarship Value
Cash award of $1,000 plus a voucher for tuition for a CCIM Institute CI 101 course.
Application
Applications will be sent to universities (with copies to chapter liaisons) on October 15, 2010. Click here for a copy of the application.
Procedure
Students submit all applications and materials to the University liaison. University liaisons forward their top 2-3 selections to the Chapter liaison. Chapter liaisons submit one final candidate to Education Foundation.
Eligibility
- Must be enrolled or accepted for admission upon commencement of the Fall semester, as a full or part-time student at one of the selected schools
- Be of junior, senior or graduate standing; Be pursuing a career in commercial investment real estate or an allied industry
- Minimum B/3.0 average in major
- Practical experience in the field (internship or job)
- Noteworthy accomplishments (can be related to studies, community service, etc.)
- Written statement about career goals, importance of the scholarship, etc.
- Completed scholarship application and supporting materials
Deadline for Submission to Chapters
Top 2-3 candidates submitted to chapter by November 14, 2010.
Deadline for Submission to Foundation
Final candidate information, including Recipient Profile Form, is due to the Education Foundation by November 28, 2010.
Selection Criteria
The selection shall primarily be based on merit, including the following factors:
- Favorable academic record
- Commitment to a real estate or allied industry career
- Communication skills
- Extracurricular activities
- History of employment
- Personal and professional references
Recipient Notification
The Education Foundation will notify successful applicants by December 15, 2010.
Award Made
Scholarship checks will be sent to chapters for distribution to recipients on December 15, 2010. Check will be made out to the student and university. Additionally, the voucher for CI course tuition will be sent. The actual cost for the voucher will be paid directly to the CCIM Institute.
Named Endowed Scholarships
The Houston / Gulf Coast Chapter awards three named endowed scholarships:
- Pius K. Leung CCIM Scholarship
- Robert C. Watson CCIM Scholarship
- H. Jim Crowley CCIM Scholarship
Overview
The purpose of the Named Endowed Scholarship is to honor a CCIM, CCIM Chapter, Individual or Corporation for their dedication, commitment, outstanding achievement and service in the commercial real estate and investment area.
The program is designed to allow the sponsor (usually a CCIM chapter), the Named Endowed honoree, and the Education Foundation to promote scholarship in the area of commercial real estate and investment on a local, state, and national basis. The program should promote the CCIM designation on a broad basis, increase the visibility of the chapter/sponsor, and promote CCIM members by honoring the Named Endowed honorees and recipients.
Scholarship Value
For a $25,000 endowment, one scholarship with a value of $1,000 will be awarded each year.
Application
Applications for potential scholarship recipients are available from the scholarship sponsor (e.g., chapters).
Procedure
Scholarship sponsors should send all applications and materials to the Education Foundation.

Requirements for Scholarship Recipients
Named Endowed Scholarships must be made consistent with the following requirements and limitations for applicant eligibility and selection criteria:
- Scholarships, if awarded to students in higher education, must be made to those attending accredited colleges and universities.
- Any students receiving scholarship grants must express the intent to pursue a career in real estate
- Scholarships can be used to provide assistance in the form of direct payment of books and materials incurred in connection with courses provided by the CCIM Institute.
- Scholarships can be used to sponsor research intended to foster further understanding and knowledge of commercial investment real estate matters.
- Selection criteria must include financial need, academic record, and other objective, racially non-discriminatory factors. The race or employment status of applicants shall not be considered.
- Relatives of those on the scholarship selection committee are not eligible.
Recipient Notification
Handled by chapters; Education Foundation will also send a congratulatory letter to recipients.
Susan J. Groeneveld CCIM Scholarship to the Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy
Overview
The Susan J. Groeneveld CCIM Scholarship to the Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy was offered for the first time to the 2007 Class of the Academy. Awarded by the Education Foundation of the CCIM Institute, the scholarship recognizes the hard work and dedication of Susan J. Groeneveld, CCIM, CCIM Institute Executive Vice President Emeritus, who was instrumental in founding the program.
Applicants will indicate their interest in this scholarship on their application for the Leadership Application.
The scholarship winner will be announced at the Institute's fall meeting, when the new Leadership Development Academy class is introduced.
Scholarship Value
$2,500: tuition of $1,500 (paid directly to CCIM Institute) plus $1,000 travel stipend (paid directly to recipient).
Application
Application is part of the overall Leadership Development Academy application. It is optional for Academy applicants to complete.
Procedure
Send all applications and materials to the CCIM Institute (with Academy application).
Eligibility
- CCIM Institute member in good standing
- Successful acceptance into the Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy
- Completed scholarship application and supporting materials (including an essay/statement [2-3 paragraphs in length] of how the scholarship will benefit the applicant
Deadline for Submission to Chapters
Applications are submitted directly to the Institute along with Academy application.
Deadline for Submission to Foundation
Applications for the scholarship should be submitted with the application for the Leadership Development Academy.
Selection Criteria
The selection shall primarily be based on merit, with consideration of financial need (if indicated by the applicant). Foundation Staff or a Board member, along with the Leadership Development Academy selection committee, will select the scholarship winner.
Recipient Notification
After the Leadership Development Academy deadline (typically mid-September), the Foundation and selection committee will select a scholarship recipient. The recipient will be announced and recognized when the new class is announced.
Award Made
Travel stipend will be given after recipient attends first meeting of the Academy.
